Who IS Ce’Onna Meilani

Ce’Onna Meilani Johnson, whom TPUC would not exist if it was not for her. Ce’Onna Meilani was scheduled to be born on August 20th 2015 but due to last minute complications with the pregnancy, Ce’Onna had to be delivered early, otherwise she would be born brain dead or still born. So, she was delivered 2.5 weeks early via C-section on July 28th 2015 at 6:29 am in perfect condition at 5 pounds – 11 ounces & 18 inches.

At three and half years old, Ce’Onna was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes also known as Type I and since then, we have had to make major life adjustments. We have spent many days learning what she could and could not eat, giving her little fingers thousands of finger pricks and her little legs thousands of needles fed with insulin. She went from not being afraid of needles to needing 10 to 12 a day to live.  She endured so much pain before she was finally approved for a Dexcom and insulin pump. Another two devices that still are needles she has to endure every 3 days and every 7-10 days, but they are still needed in order for her to survive.

For someone like my Ce’Onna Meilani who just wants to be happy, she sometimes cries and asks me “why” and I don’t have an answer but what I do tell her is that she is so strong and beautiful, and she is showing so many other diabetic girls and boys how they can be strong just like her. So, as she comes to understand that God chose her and I to help other Mom and kids get through their journey by sharing our journey of what this has been like and will continue to be like for us, here is her message to the world.

To learn more about Ce’Onna Meilani, you can catch her in the documentary or check her out here.

  COMPANY HISTORY

| started my business because my three year-old daughter was unexpectedly diagnosed as Type l, and she was given only one option to house her insulin pump so I created some thing that would give her an alternative to wearing her insulin pump in public and that would allow her to wear her insulin pump in private but also in something more comfortable and fitting Which is the first underwear with pockets to house an insulin and it is now something. l have created for all diabetic kids and adults across the world Diabetic patients who are insulin bound 247 do not have anything besides a SPIbelt to wear.

So, this is a new option that helps them to become more free and sometimes for the first time feel unattached to something on the outside of their clothes so, I created this for my daughter and many others who l know felt what she felt being diagnosed unexpectedly and not having an option to wear your insulin pump at your own comfort and digression Currently today, we have created over 20 different pro types of underwear with various pocket styles and are waiting for funding to cover manufacturing ,marketing expansion and team development.

Our Approach

What does your donation means to TPUC?

When you donate to THE POCKET UNDERWEAR COMPANY (TPUC) LLC, you are supporting our main goal, which was to design an underwear with pockets to accommodate an insulin pump and to also join the movement in helping to support the development of a healthy pancreas for those who have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes but also offering the option to wear a pump in one’s own privacy.

In addition, your donation will those who are insulin dependent 24-7 feel more loved during this difficult transition in their life but to also support the cost of helping us provide two free underwear to all the newly diagnosed families in their welcome home kits.

01.

— Our Mission

TPUC current Mission is provide free underwear to all newly diagnosed families, so they are not forced to be in a Spi-belt or Fanny Pack and have to wear their pump in public while taking time to adjust to their diagnoses in private.

02.

— Our Vision

TPUC current Vision is to eventually help ALL diabetic families feel safe in underwear that protects their diagnosis, as well as to help these families learn to adjust and deal with their diabetes at their own pace and time by wearing THE POCKET UNDERWEAR.
